I must hasten to give the credit for that last link to the photo of Bush and friends to Plato the Lapdog, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I borrowed it from his blog.
Should Saudis run our ports?
All right, now. This, that I have read about, is frankly, absolutely, ridiculous. That Bush should give over control of those six ports to the Saudis is suspect in the first place, although not surprising, since, in my opinion, he has been in the UAE's pocket for years, probably thinking he was in theirs(!) And him claiming that this deal is absolutely not a security concern? When money from the UAE funded the terrorists that came over in 9/11, and two of the terrorists were actually FROM there? Where's your security concern now? The Saudis claiming they don't deal with terrorists anymore, but are completely on the side of the United States, AGAINST terrorists? Come on! We're supposed to believe the wolf in sheep's clothing, huh? Oh, and while I'm at it, about the so-called second-in-command at the Pentagon's statement that anyone publicly opposing this deal are to be considered a threat to the country?!!! What about freedom of speech? Hah? Are we supposed to cower in fear because of that statement? I'm not, in fact it makes me angry. How dare he say that! We should never be afraid to speak our mind in this country, unless it goes into the maniacal, because freedom of speech is one thing our country is based on. And I suppose Bush is also going to say freedom of commerce, since this deal with the Saudis is supposed to bring $6.8 billion dollars; well, that all depends where that money goes, if not just to line the pockets of the Bush administration and all its wealthy friends. I would like to trust that Congress and the Senate and the House make sure that the money gets evenly distributed. But to get back to the security issue: it's said that theDubai Ports World would NOT handle any security, but that they would leave that up to us. All of it. The Coast Guard, etc. Well, since they found ways to sneak the 9/11 terrorists in on us, more to our shame, we were not ready, we were TOO trusting, what's to say they couldn't do it again? Hm? And Mr. Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England said, (quote) "...Terrorists want our nation to become distrustful...paranoid and isolationist. My view is we cannot allow this to happen; it needs to be just the opposite." Oh, well! Wouldn't you rather be distrustful, in regard to a nation like the United Arab Emirate, with its bad rep and track record, than drop all guard and welcome a terrorist-serving country into the United States with open arms, to take control of six of our, as it looks like, most strategic ports?!! Paranoid and isolationist? Ooh, are we taking to namecalling the American people? Mr. England! Remember, "of the people, by the people, and FOR the people"! Not just one man and his rich cronies. You know who I mean. But that's not the main point, the main point is our country's control and continued freedom. Hey, come on in here, folks, and give me your comments!

A definite miscarriage of justice
I can't help it, I have to say something about this: I read an article in the paper this morning about how a teen at a juvenile detention boot camp in Panama City, Fla, died as a result of a beating by guards. The authorities there were claiming he died as a result of his sickle cell aenemia illness. But they had a security tape of the entire beating, and it showed the youth lying LIMP for most of it, nonresistant, even though the guards claimed he was being uncooperative. His body was covered with bruises and scrapes, but "it was said they were linked to attempts to resuscitate him." Of all the bull malarkey I've ever heard, that is it! This poor boy was brought to this boot camp for a probation violation, and for 80 minutes, as many as nine guards brutalized him! To top it all off, the county Medical Examiner blamed the resultant internal bleeding which the boy died from at the hospital on his sickle cell disease. Have you ever of any such abhorrent garbage as this? It's probably just one more place like Guantanamo Bay where guards with masochist tendencies wreak their own sicknesses on the so-called terrorist prisoners, only here, HERE it's done to the underaged, to minors, to teenagers, some of whose only crime( it might be) is to have a genetic physical illness they can do nothing about. Is that justice?! And to allow something almost no less than a gangbang, nine probably well-muscled guards to one youth? Come on! It's no wonder his mother couldn't watch the entire tape. The boy's only infraction was that he began having breathing difficulties and collapsed "while doing pushups, situps, and other exercises." And for that, nine guards start whopping up on him and restraining him. Reading this just made me sick. What about any of you out there? Have you any opinions on this?

Good Day, and Welcome!
Good day to everyone, and welcome to what I hope will be my most productive and sociable blog. I invite one and all in to debate and discuss those topics most near and dear to your hearts, and things that may be pressing on your minds. No, this is not a "Dear Abby" type of blog! Whatever you come in and comment upon, I will do my best to debate with you, and anyone else can also remark upon your remarks. It should be an intriguing interlude for everyone, I certainly hope, who ventures into this chamber of my blog, the chamber of The Lady Debates!
