Should Saudis run our ports?

All right, now. This, that I have read about, is frankly, absolutely, ridiculous. That Bush should give over control of those six ports to the Saudis is suspect in the first place, although not surprising, since, in my opinion, he has been in the UAE's pocket for years, probably thinking he was in theirs(!) And him claiming that this deal is absolutely not a security concern? When money from the UAE funded the terrorists that came over in 9/11, and two of the terrorists were actually FROM there? Where's your security concern now? The Saudis claiming they don't deal with terrorists anymore, but are completely on the side of the United States, AGAINST terrorists? Come on! We're supposed to believe the wolf in sheep's clothing, huh? Oh, and while I'm at it, about the so-called second-in-command at the Pentagon's statement that anyone publicly opposing this deal are to be considered a threat to the country?!!! What about freedom of speech? Hah? Are we supposed to cower in fear because of that statement? I'm not, in fact it makes me angry. How dare he say that! We should never be afraid to speak our mind in this country, unless it goes into the maniacal, because freedom of speech is one thing our country is based on. And I suppose Bush is also going to say freedom of commerce, since this deal with the Saudis is supposed to bring $6.8 billion dollars; well, that all depends where that money goes, if not just to line the pockets of the Bush administration and all its wealthy friends. I would like to trust that Congress and the Senate and the House make sure that the money gets evenly distributed. But to get back to the security issue: it's said that theDubai Ports World would NOT handle any security, but that they would leave that up to us. All of it. The Coast Guard, etc. Well, since they found ways to sneak the 9/11 terrorists in on us, more to our shame, we were not ready, we were TOO trusting, what's to say they couldn't do it again? Hm? And Mr. Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England said, (quote) "...Terrorists want our nation to become distrustful...paranoid and isolationist. My view is we cannot allow this to happen; it needs to be just the opposite." Oh, well! Wouldn't you rather be distrustful, in regard to a nation like the United Arab Emirate, with its bad rep and track record, than drop all guard and welcome a terrorist-serving country into the United States with open arms, to take control of six of our, as it looks like, most strategic ports?!! Paranoid and isolationist? Ooh, are we taking to namecalling the American people? Mr. England! Remember, "of the people, by the people, and FOR the people"! Not just one man and his rich cronies. You know who I mean. But that's not the main point, the main point is our country's control and continued freedom. Hey, come on in here, folks, and give me your comments!

Hey Plato, glad you dropped in. Thanks for your graciousness; you're always welcome anytime. Nice to see your field is technology, that means anytime I have computer trouble I can come to you, lol! Also, it's interesting that you like so many Asian things; do you like the Japanese anime? there's a few that I like, I haven't seen many, so I'm no great expert--Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost In The Shell (Stand Alone Complex)are the ones I watch on tv right now. Would love to have some videos of them for my collection. Oh yes, and I did used to watch Sailor Moon, guilty as charged! I really loved that story. There was another one I remember that I saw but I can't recall the name. Also, sometime, it would be nice to discuss the great and mighty "Lord of the Rings". Not being sarcastic, I truly admire it, it's a great work.
Well, I'll go now. Do what you said, and come back!

@Mistress Editor: I have to say that I believe that a lot of this country's problems in the Middle East come from the very social element that our President comes from.
I do not think ANY foreign entity should be in charge of things like sea-ports, airports, military suppliers.
The Bush family has been in the pockets of the Saudis and the UAE for a very long time. Some of this dates to the era of the Cold War, when various groups we now call 'Islamist' had their beginings, in places like Afghanistan.
It was an open secret for years.
When I remind people that at one time the U.S. supported the Taliban and at one time the U.S. supported Saddam Husein, they don't like hearing it but it's true.
I am not anti-Arab, I'm not anti-Muslim either, I get along quite well with Muslims and find their religion to be very logical, and I think most Americans could learn something from Muslims.
I really resent that opposition to the UAE owning six ports is classed as racist, anti-Arab and anti-Muslim.
I had no idea the British ran those same ports! That shocked me as badly because those same ports have been run by the British for ages, does anyone remember the situation in Northern Ireland? They could have been targets because of British ownership!
I just don't like important assets being under any foreign ownership or control.
I don't like how much American land is under foreign ownership either.
I dont' like how much of our banking industry is under foreign ownership.
I don't care if the foreign owners are English, French, Irish, Canadian or Arab.
